Sofles

Notorious graffiti figure. Prodigious talent. Sofles has been both reviled and embraced by the media over his ten-year career, which began as a graffiti artist in Brisbane, Australia. With many fingers in many a pie, his work spreads across illustration, tattoo, canvas and any mark-able surface.

After a well-publicized conviction in 2009, Sofles burst onto the scene with various sold-out exhibitions, collaborations with artists such as Anthony Lister, Ben Frost and Revok, and contracts with the likes of Red Bull, Myer, Adidas, and Toohey’s. Sofles imagery is wide and varied, with collages of mind-bending abstraction melting into intricate form, perfect snapshots of the artist’s wild imagination.

Sofles’s ability to create depth and detail with aerosol is unmatched, and combined with his bold use of colour renders pieces so distinctive they have firmly set Sofles reputation as one of Australia’s most watched contemporary artists. Currently working on a new solo show, Sofles explores some new techniques and mediums, keeping the ever building snowball rolling.

Fintan Magee

Born in Lismore NSW, Fintan Magee moved to Brisbane as a child and began drawing shortly after. In his early teens he was exposed to graffiti culture and began to scrawl his name across the city with large vibrant letterforms.

Moving away from traditional graffiti in the last couple of years he has started to explore new ideas and imagery within his chosen medium. In the last year he has created some of the largest and most striking street pieces in Australia.

His bold guerilla mural works often combine still life paintings of found objects with installation elements. His works explore themes of waste, consumption, loss and transition and contain a sentimentality and softness influenced by children’s books.

He has been selected as a finalist for the Prometheus, Churchie and Lethbridge art prizes and received the people’s choice at the Cliftons art prize, Brisbane.

He has also built up a large internet-presence and His work has been featured on websites such as Wooster collective, Juxtapoz, Fecal face, Unurth, Beautiful decay and many more. His diligence, technical skill and progressive approach to street art make him one of Australia’s must watch emerging artists.
